The animal behind the profile

Meet Steven

Steven is a sweet, playful boy who enjoys walks, time with other dogs, and appropriate chews. After a satisfying day, he is happy to settle near his people on the couch or a dog bed.

As a PAWS graduate, Steven already has a helpful foundation. He knows basic commands and is potty trained, leash trained, and crate trained. His kennel can be a safe place to relax, and he has good recall.

An active home for a Husky at heart

Steven is true to his Husky genes. He is smart, curious, and happiest when he has things to do. Regular exercise, mental enrichment, and an active family will be essential to his success. He needs people who want to include him in their daily activities and make time for walks, play, training, and exploring together.

When Steven is bored or his needs are not being met, he may find his own entertainment. Food puzzles, scent games, appropriate chews, and continued practice with his PAWS skills can give that busy brain productive outlets.

Steven enjoys relaxing with his people, too, especially after a satisfying day. His best match will be a family that understands and enjoys his Husky traits and is committed to meeting his needs consistently.

Steven's Story

Steven joined the IARN family as a young puppy and was adopted into a home of his own. Sadly, he now needs a new home through no fault of his own. This sweet boy is ready for his next chapter with people who will enjoy his company and help him keep building on everything he has learned.

Beyond the quick facts

Behavior Notes

Steven does well with other dogs and children, including young children. His size and excitement can mean small children need extra supervision. He chases cats, so a home without cats is the best fit. His compatibility with horses, chickens, cows, and other livestock is unknown.

He may bark at people or dogs passing by and has a moderate prey drive. He can be destructive at times, so skip stuffed toys and offer appropriate, durable chews and enrichment instead.

Steven can have slight anxiety during car rides and veterinary visits. He tolerates nail trims. He is leash trained; his current handling notes mention a prong collar if needed, which our adoption team can discuss along with his training routine. No bite history has been reported. He is not a fan of water.

Steven's Ideal Home

Steven needs an active family that will make daily exercise, mental enrichment, and continued training part of everyday life. Walks, play, exploring, and time together will help him thrive.

A home with other dogs or children may be a good match with thoughtful introductions and supervision. A home without cats is the best fit. His family should be comfortable with his Husky traits and committed to giving his busy brain productive outlets.
