Fig's Story

Fig was approximately six months old when he was discovered chained to a broken camper in the snow. We brought him into IARN’s care, giving this young dog a safe place to begin his next chapter.

Today, Fig is an affectionate boy who enjoys snuggles, time with other dogs, and sunny spots in the grass. He’s ready for a family who will offer him patience, kindness, and a home where he can feel safe and loved.

Behavior Notes

Fig does well with other dogs and is best suited to adults or older children. He may chase a cat that runs, so any home with cats needs careful consideration. His compatibility with horses, chickens, cows, and other livestock is unknown.

When Fig becomes overstimulated, whether excited or worried, he can have an accidental tinkle. This is improving, and he is otherwise potty trained. A calm approach and patient, consistent routines will help.

He may bark at people or dogs passing by and has a moderate prey drive. His recall is reliable most of the time, and he may have slight anxiety in the car or at the vet. He tolerates nail trims, is not destructive, and has no reported bite history. He does not enjoy water.

Fig's Ideal Home

Fig will do best with patient people who enjoy an affectionate companion and can offer a calm, predictable home. Adults or older children are his best match.

He enjoys other dogs and may appreciate a compatible canine friend. His family should give him time to settle in, respect his safe space, and help him manage excitement without pressure. A home with cats needs careful consideration because he may chase them if they run.
