Before you submit a request

IARN is a foster-based rescue, not an open-intake shelter. Submitting a request does not guarantee intake, placement, or a new home. Availability depends on our resources and the animal’s needs.

Please keep your pet in safe, confirmed care while you explore options. Contact us before making arrangements to surrender an animal.

  1. Gather the detailsHave your pet’s age, medical records, current photos, and care needs ready.

Rehome responsibly

Finding a new home on your own

Sometimes the best next step is finding a safe, loving home directly. Take your time, ask questions, and make sure the placement is right for your pet.

Rehoming responsibly: take your time, ask a rehoming fee, check the home, use a contract, be honest, post carefully, and trust your instincts

Screen potential adopters

Ask about their household, other pets, experience, and plans for veterinary care. Meet safely and verify that the home is a good fit.

Share the full picture

Be open about medical needs, behavior, and history. Use a written adoption agreement and arrange a safe transfer of records.

Post thoughtfully

Use clear photos and an accurate description. Avoid rushed placements, suspicious inquiries, and giving pets away without screening.

Share with local pet communities

These Facebook groups may help you reach local families. Review each group’s rules before posting. IARN does not screen or endorse people who respond to your listing.
