Last updated: October 9, 2026
Idaho Animal Rescue Network (“IARN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the people who contact us, use our programs, volunteer, foster, adopt, donate, report animal welfare concerns, or otherwise interact with our website and services. This policy explains the types of information we may collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
We may collect information you voluntarily provide through contact forms, adoption, foster or volunteer applications, pet pantry requests, rehoming requests, event or program registrations, donation forms, animal welfare reports, and other communications. Depending on the service, this may include your name, contact information, household information, information about animals in your care, veterinary references, photographs, documents, and other details needed to respond to your request or administer an IARN program.
Some IARN programs involve sensitive circumstances. Information connected with domestic violence, temporary pet fostering, law-enforcement matters, cruelty or neglect reports, and similar situations is handled as confidential administrative information and is shared only as reasonably necessary to provide services, protect people or animals, comply with law, or coordinate with appropriate agencies or service providers.
Domestic Violence and Temporary Pet Foster Services
We recognize that privacy can be especially important for people seeking temporary pet care because of domestic violence, housing instability, or another crisis. We limit access to this information to those who need it to coordinate the requested service. If accessing this website or receiving communications could create a safety concern, please use a safer device, email address, telephone number, or contact method when possible.
How We Use Information
We use information to respond to inquiries; evaluate adoption, foster and volunteer applications; coordinate animal care and veterinary services; operate community assistance programs; process donations; maintain organizational and animal records; communicate about services or requests; investigate or refer animal welfare concerns; improve our website and programs; and meet legal, financial, nonprofit, insurance, or recordkeeping obligations.
Third-Party Services
Our website and programs may use third-party services to provide forms, donations, maps, analytics, email, social media features, and other functionality. These may include services such as Airtable, Zeffy, Google services, and social media platforms. Information submitted directly through a third-party service may also be governed by that provider’s privacy practices.
Website Analytics and Cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies necessary for site functionality, security, preferences, and analytics. We may use Google Site Kit or related Google services to understand general website traffic and performance. These tools may collect information such as browser type, device information, approximate location, referring pages, and interactions with the site.
Uploaded Files and Images
If you upload photographs, veterinary records, documents, or other files through an IARN form or application, those materials may contain personal information or metadata. Please provide only information relevant to your request. When appropriate, remove sensitive information that IARN does not need.
How We Share Information
IARN does not sell personal information. We may share information with volunteers, fosters, veterinary providers, service providers, partner organizations, law-enforcement or government agencies, or other parties when reasonably necessary to carry out the purpose for which the information was provided, protect animal or human welfare, administer our programs, or comply with applicable law.
Animal Welfare Reports
Information submitted about suspected animal cruelty, neglect, abandonment, or other welfare concerns may be shared with appropriate law-enforcement, animal-control, veterinary, prosecutorial, or other authorities when necessary to evaluate or respond to the concern. Please do not use our website for an immediate emergency; contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement agency directly.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for animal-care records, applications, program administration, donor and financial records, legal matters, nonprofit compliance, organizational history, or other legitimate operational purposes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of record and the reason it was collected.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information in our care. No website, email system, online form, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices
You may contact us to request correction of personal information you have provided or to ask whether information can be deleted. Some records may need to be retained for legal, financial, animal-care, safety, or legitimate organizational purposes.
